Not-for-profit gym now runs smoothly

The management and staff of the Tokomairiro Community Recreation Centre were “jumping for joy” following the donation of $5,000 from the South Otago district of the Otago Masonic Charitable Trust (OMCT) to buy a new treadmill for their gymnasium. The bijou gym caters for, not simply a wide age range, but also a wide level of ability and disability within the Milton catchment area.

were very pleased to receive the funding to purchase a
reconditioned treadmill for their customers.

“For some time there has been a bit of a bottleneck when it came to accessibility with patrons wanting to use the centre’s popular treadmills,” Gym Manager, Robyn Mathieson told us.  “I am now confident that the new machine will go a long way to alleviating the issue.”

Only installed in late-June, the new treadmill has already seen much action from oldies (and youngies) alike, aiming to improve their fitness levels.

Both centre managers, Bruce Vollweiler and Robyn Mathieson attended the presentation to acknowledge the OMCT’s donation, appearing at Lodge Clinton No. 183 in South Otago. Robyn said that she “thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon” and found being inside a Masonic Lodge a “very interesting” experience.

She also sent the Otago Masonic Charitable Trust a much appreciated ‘thank you’ letter which, no doubt, will be highly valued by all those involved with the Masonic charity.
