Andrea Dale

2022 Port Chalmers Marine Lodge Bursary

Andrea Dale has been chosen as the recipient of the 2022 Port Chalmers Marine Lodge Bursary, and a Certificate acknowledging this was given to her on Monday  13 December 2021. The funds have been transferred to her so that she can use them when preparing for her studies in 2022.

Andrea has now completed her studies at Otago Girls High School and next year she will attend The Otago Polytechnic to study for a Batchelor of Occupational Therapy. This is a three year course and Andrea says it is in line with her wanting to help and support others in the community.

She has worked outside of school for a number of years in hospitality as well being a Prefect in her last year at Otago Girls High School which has helped her develop relationship skills. As well she has for a number of years been a volunteer coach at the Port Chalmers Swim Club which she has found a rewarding experience.

To quote Andrea:

“I feel the Otago Polytechnic is the best place for me to pursue this passion to work with people in a meaningful and rewarding way. The way the Otago Polytechnic is structured will allow me to gain the knowledge and skills I need to continue within this field. With the opportunities for hands-on experience, I believe this will nurture my want to help others and pursue this.”

As stated above Andrea works part-time in a Café, and also at events at the Orokanui ecosanctuary. She enjoys sports and for several years has been actively involved in crossfit and weightlifting.

Andrea is excited to be starting a new career and the Trust wishes her every success.
